History
A Conservatory Flourishes
Since its founding in 1999 by the renowned pianist, musicologist, and pedagogue Kostis Gaitanos and the distinguished pianist and pedagogue Betty Gaitanou-Barzouka, The Musical Horizons Conservatory has laid the foundations of a new educational model through which the trust, enthusiasm, and faith in the spiritual evolution of modern youth are developed. The conservatory’s faculty includes world-class soloists and educators from Greece and abroad who ensure the highest quality of musical studies and who are committed to cultivating and highlighting the talent of their students.
Government recognition
The Musical Horizons Conservatory is recognized by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports and operates in Cyprus with 26 branches and collaborations.
The Logo
The conservatory’s logo immortalizes the Goddess Niki trumpeting on the bow of a ship. His choice was not accidental, as Victory is the allegory of spiritual value and the wings are, according to Plato, symbols of intelligence and exaltation of the soul. The tetradrachm that portrays the winged Goddess Victory of The Musical Horizons Conservatory refers to the proud naval victory of Demetrius the Besieger over Ptolemy I of Egypt in Salamis, Cyprus in 306 BC. The Goddess of Victory from her first depictions is an envoy, follower, and symbol of the gods, mainly of Zeus and Athena, who gives victory in war, athletics, poetry, and music competitions.
